Don't forget to order.

So, I defrosted and organized 3 freezers yesterday. They look so nice and I can actually find many items that were lost. Among them were some smoked bacon ends, smoked jowl and beef and lamb organ meats. It is broth time and we have plenty of bones. We also have sliced ham shanks and sliced leg shanks. The ham shanks are very meaty.
We also have hogs ready to go to the processor if anyone is interested in stocking their freezer. The cost is $4.00/lb half hog and $3.50/lb. whole hog, hanging weight plus the cost of processing, which is about $100 for a whole hog. Just let me know if you are interested.
See you Wednesday.

Blessings,
Mary Beth.

The on-line market is open for ordering.

We have several items of interest so please read on.

Cedar Rock Dairy will increase the price of their milk by $0.50 per half gallon. They are making a 3 hour trek to deliver to the North Georgia area and we are so grateful for the high quality milk they provide.

Good Shepherd Herbals is taking pre-orders for Elderberry Syrup, to be delivered in October. Elderberry is a wonderful immune booster. We start taking a ‘shot’ a day when we start our co-op. You never know who might have a bug to share so this is one of the things we do to boost our systems.

  • Joyful Noise Acres Farm* is offering the 2 lb. packages of mild sausage for $1.00 off this week.

Blessings and we look forward to seeing you Wednesday.

This week we want to introduce Tranquility Farm in Ball Ground. The farm raises Pygmy Goats and free range chickens. They provide our market with extra eggs and also sell fresh milled baked goods including cookies and breads; delicious Naan and Mediterannean bread and a Herbed Olive Oil Dip. We are so blessed to have them provide their delicous products.

We will look forward to seeing you on Wednesday.

JNA on-line market is open for ordering.

LOVIN’ the weather! It is just perfect for firing up the grill. Tonight we are grilling spare ribs and okra with sweet potatoes on the side. YUM.

We are blessed to have Georgia Farm to Table on our market. Glenn and Christy were thrown into the clean food delivery business rather unexpectantly but the concept and commitment has paid off. Their goal is to purchase local food from local farmers. They look for Certified Naturally Grown farms and also farms that do not use harsh sprays and chemicals. Each box features fruits and vegetables. Their boxes do keep with the seasonal aspect of growing and eating. Between groing seasons, choices can be limited so they will add produce from South Georgia or Florida to keep the boxes full. It is a good value and also a way to try something you might not otherwise purchase. Also, Christy is wonderful about making substitutions if there is something in the box you just don’t want.

Thank you for supporting your local growers.

The online market is open for ordering. This week we have Farm Fresh Food’s San Marzano Tomato Sauce. This sauce is made only for a few weeks each year when this special tomato is available. It is full of flavor and adds a special touch to anything you use it in. Amy grows a lot of the foods she cooks with and the rest she does get from local farmers. She truly is locally grown. If you have not already tasted something, everything FFF makes is delicious!

Thank you for supporting your local farmers and artisans.

It has been such a nice week,,,we have enjoyed such beautiful weather, our meals have been taken on a simplicity so that the flavors of summer shine through and evening walks are more pleasant in the coolness.
We have an abundance of bones and organ meat this week to get you started making broth. It is the basis for so many wanderful soups, including summer squash soup and curried vegetable soups. Add a spicy pepper to bring up the heat which actually cools your body.
New this week is Zesty Italian Sausage from Joyful Noise Acres Farm. Grab a pound or two to add an extra layer of flavor to your pizza, meatballs or lasagna. The seasoning blend does not have any added chemicals – just herbs, pepper and salt.
Holden Creek Farm delivered more chickens and leg quarters, perfect for the grill. We also have fresh ground lamb and lamb chops available this week.
Sam at Cedar Rock Dairy asks that we be careful to have the metal flat lid on all our jars. If you don’t it will not seal well, it will go sour more quickly. I have asked him to replace any missing lids to protect your milk but he will be charging the customer $0.40 per lid to replace since he has to buy the lids. Please don’t forget your lids!

Blessings to each of you and thank you for supporting your local farmers and artisans.
