The Market is open for ordering.

Good morning.
I am looking out over the foggy pasture at all the white chickens roaming around. It is a beautiful, peaceful site and I find myself filled with gratitude for our slice of land and what we get to do here and for you in knowing the value of clean food and what it takes to produce it. On behalf of all the farmers and growers, I say “thank you”.

If you want fresh chicken this week, Joyful Noise Acres Farm will have them available for pickup Thursday afternoon. Send me an e-mail if you are interested in fresh birds, and how many. We will also have cut up whole birds.

Most of you don’t know this but Two Daughters Bakery has been leaving a few extra items each week. Most of you don’t know this because they are gone before you get here. This week she left Caramel Apple Cupcakes in a jar. It was incredible! Rich and creamy icing over fresh apple cake with just the right amount of spice. These make a wonderful treat for you or a lovely small gift for someone else. It dangerously comes with a spoon attached so don’t tell your family you bought it just in case it does not make it home.

Amestoy Farm has an abundance of Jalapeno peppers, cayenne peppers, Okra, Bell Peppers and eggplant. He is offering them at a discounted price for bulk purchases. This is an easy way to get some extras put up for winter. I chop my bell peppers and freeze them in plastic bags. I can pull out a handful to saute when needed. The cayenne peppers make an easy and wonderful hot sauce. With gift giving season around the corner, think about making a gift from the kitchen.

We are blessed to have so many wonderful growers and producers to provide nutritious foods for us, thank you for supporting locally grown.

The market closes at 8:00 pm.

Please get your orders in before 8:00 tonight. It is also Honey ordering time. We order gallons of honey from Blue Ridge HOney Company. These are individual orders, not something we sell on the market. If you are interested in ordering, I will forward you an order form. I will need it completed and returned as soon as possible.
Thanks and see you Wednesday.

The JNA farmers market is open for ordering.

Good morning.*
I hope you had a wonderful week and got some of this wonderful rain. The ground has been parched over here so I am grateful for all the rain we have gotten.
A few housekeeping notes, we are keeping a log of all the jars coming and going. There seems to be a lot of missing jars, if it is an oversight by the dairy, they pay for plastic but if it is on the customer side, the customer will be charged for plastic. Also, please make sure nothing goes into your jars but milk or water. Residue from teas or ferments will spoil the milk. Secondly, please be careful and drive slowly going in and out of the road. It is a narrow road and driveway. There are plenty of places to allow for two cars but it is unnerving if someone is speeding around a curve.

Off to the yummies, Good Shepherd Herbals continues her 20% off sale this week on teas. They have wonderful health benefits such as Wise Woman Tea for needed vitamins and minerals, Pregnancy tonic gives wonderful support to the reproductive system and Tranquility Tea is very relaxing for adults and children. They also make beautiful, skin nourishing soaps using the purest ingredients.
Harvest Meadows stills has cherry tomatoes, wonderful herbs just begging to be dried or made into a chimichurra sauce, one of my favorite ways to preserve them. They dropped of 2 bags of lettuce last week so look for greens to be on the market soon.
Amestoy Farm has been so busy growing some of the prettiest vegetables. His winter squash selection is varied and the pepper selection begs us to try a new variety just for the fun of it not to mention the flavor explosions. We can’t get enough of his potatoes. I chop them and fry them lightly in pork lard until golden brown. There are no leftovers.
We have cheese again thanks to Meadow Valley Farm. Remember, the final cost of the cheese is determined at pick up. We also have raw milk butter in the freezer.
Tonight is First Friday in Downtown Canton if you are looking for a family friendly event. Be sure to stop by Stout’s Growlers and say hi to Irene.
Blessings and thank you for supporting locally foods.

The market closes at 8:00 tonight.

Good morning.
I hope you are having a restful day from your labors. I am so grateful we have strong bodies that can work and good work to do. A thank you to all the growers of good food to keep our bodies nourished.
Good Sherpherd Herbals has put her teas on sale this week, 20% off. This is a great time to grab a couple of extra bags. All of her teas can be consumed hot or cold. It is easy to put together a meaningful gift such as the Pregnancy tea, Beaulah Balm and Lavender Soap for the expectant Mother.
Rosemary Knoll sent over 4 Lemon Curd Goat Cheese Spreads so grab those while they are in stock. They freeze easily for longer term storage, if they don’t get eaten first!

Blessings,
Mary Beth

The JNA Farm Market is open for orders.

Another beautiful summer day expected today. In the midst of the heat it is hard to think about fall but that is what your farmers are doing. The fall crops have been started and are getting in the ground, the last of the chickens will be coming in this month, the holiday birds are continuing to fatten up. It is always busy on the farms, even in transition time.
This week we have some wonderful foods from fresh to baked goods to prepared foods so lets get started.
Farm Fresh Foods has hit it out of the park with Tara’ s Apple Tart, Eggplant Parmesan, and Apple Walnut Sweet Rolls. The eggplant and a salad made a great dinner in a hurry this week. Apple Tart for dessert was a great hit.
Amestoy Farm has some of the biggest spaghetti squash I have seen. They are so easy to cook up, toss with fresh herbs, cheese and grilled chicken and chopped tomatoes and another quick, healthy dinner is on the table. If you have leftovers, toss them in the food processor and freeze and it can later be added to spaghetti sauce, extra flavor from hidden vegetables. For those that love tomatoes and squash, check out a recipe for Joyful Noise Acres Farm Sausage and squash stuffed tomatoes. Serve with a loaf of Jalapeño Cheese Bread from Two Daughters Bakery and you are out of the kitchen in no time.
With school starting and sports activities increasing, look to Good Shepherd Herbals. They have Elderberry Syrup to support the immune system, some wonderful herbal teas to nourish and strengthen the body and a Rescue Liniment that is a balm for sore muscles.
We still have a few blocks of Meadow Valley Farm organic cheeses available. The Colby is my new favorite for grilled cheese sandwiches. I also love it melted on tomato slices for an easy side dish. The organic, salted butter is in the freezer so don’t forget to ask for it when you stop by.

Thank you for supporting local farmers and artisans.
Know your farmer, know your food.

The market is open for ordering.

Good morning,
The market is now open for ordering. Joyful Noise Acres Farm *has new pork and chicken in. There are plenty of large birds to choose from. The pork is even more delicious than before. The pigs have been on a diet of produce and barley and the meat is sweeter and pinker than before. This batch of sausage is truly mild not medium.
*Four Mile Farm *now has lamb and beef. We have beef, pork and bones in the freezer also for those that need to make broth.
We only have a few more weeks of tomatoes and peppers. My favorite summer recipe has been sliced tomatoes and sliced gouda cheese drizzled with *Home Appetits’ *Balsamic Vinegar then *Rosemary Knoll’s *Artichoke pesto on top. This is a salad by itself or layer this over a bed of greens. Add a loaf of Jalapeno Cheddar Cheese Bread From *Two Daughters Bakery *and you never had to warm up the kitchen. Finally for dessert, slice a loaf of *Farm Fresh Foods
Chocolate Espresso Bread or Tara’s Apple Tart. YUM!
Have fun browsing all the wonderful foods and we will see you on Wednesday.
Blessings,
Mary Beth

Good morning. I hope you all have had a rain shower or two. Our thirsty ground needs a little more to drink but we are grateful for what we have gotten so far.
We have another week of beautiful vegetables, scrumptious baked goods, nourishing meats and natural beauty products for you to choose from. The refrigerator is full of whole, real milk for pets, raw milk cheese and more butter is coming this week.
I will be out of town this coming week however, Chrystal and Joseph will be taking great care of you. The market will close promptly at 4 so please don’t be late as there will not be anyone available for late or forgotten pickups… And I don’t want you to miss out on your yummies this week.

Thank you for supporting locally grown.

Early reminder.

An early reminder to get your orders in before the market closes Monday night at 8pm. I did get the cheese listed on the market, just not all the descriptions. The final price of the cheese will be determined at pick-up since each wedge has a different weight.
The real Amish butter is about gone. We have 11 containers left. We are so blessed to have found a source for real grass fed milk butter. Please give me your feedback on the butter before I order any more. What did and didn’t you like?
The cool weather has been a nice reprieve for our hardworking farmers but it is slowing some of the crops. We still have a very nice selection of vegetables to choose from this week. Several of our farmers will sell in bulk for those of you that want to put up extra vegetables for the winter. Just e-mail them for details.
Blessings to all,
Mary Beth
