Market is open for orders!


The gardens and farms are really showing off this week, we have beautiful heirloom vegetables from Amestoy Farm, Trust in Nature Farm and Joyful Noise Acres Farm. Look for hot peppers and bell peppers, green beans, carrots, Cherokee Purple tomatoes, Gold Nugget Tomatoes, Hill Country Red Okra and fresh herbs.

Honey

Twice a year we do a bulk honey order from Blue Ridge Honey Company. This is raw, unpasteurized honey. We order by the gallon and the prices are great. If you are interested in ordering honey, please e-mail me for an order form. This time we have Blackberry and Blue Berry honey to order. The Black berry is so good. I am eager to taste the blueberry.

I hope you have a favorite local bee keeper and I encourage you to buy local honey when possible.

New to the market this week are Home Appetit. They carry the most delightful seasoning blends, oils, vinegars and salt. Everything they produce is exceptional. The White Balsamic Vinegar is a staple in my kitchen for making a quick salad dressing. I have heard it referred to as “crack for the kitchen”!

Rosemary Knoll has added more items to the market and delivered many of the to the farm. The Arichoke pesto is so perfect for stuffing mushrooms. Broil for 3 minutes then serve warm. Thier face book page has some great recipes. One is for Meatloaf with the Sun Dried Tomato Pesto which I will be making this Sunday.

Joyful Noise Acres Farm have thin cut pork chops, Boston Butts, sliced ham, and sausage. Two more pigs are going up this week so there will be fresh side and ribs available next Saturday. The flavor of pasture raised pork just cannot be compared. We are carrying *Herbie’s Bar-B-Que *seasoning blend which is excellent on most any meat but makes a great dry rub for the Boston Butts and chops.

Chanterelle Mushrooms are blooming over here. They are $6/pint, e-mail me to reserve some. They are a gourmet delight!

*Four Mile Farm *will have beef again the first of August but meanwhile *Indian Creek Angus *is providing us with half a cow tomorrow. We will have steaks, ground beef, soup bones, etc. It should be here around 10:30 in the morning and I will get the quantities updated for ordering later in the day.

If you place an order on the market, you can always add to it later so feel free to check back to see if anything has been added that may interest you.

New items added to market - closing delayed!


The growers have been very busy and added some more vegetables to the market. So that you can take advantage of them, we will not close the market until tonight at 8:00pm.

Amestoy Farm has added potatoes, green beans, carrots and tomatoes to the market.

Joyful Noise Acres Farm has added chanterelle mushrooms. These wild mushrooms are a gourmet treat. They are short lived in the wild but easy to cook and freeze.

JNAFarm Locally Grown


We have had a wonderfully busy week on the farm and in the gym. We spent Tuesday speaking to the classes at CrossFit Canton about choosing locally grown, naturally grown foods and the benefits to our bodies of avoiding pesticides and chemicals when possible. We have to look at food as medicine and as fuel for the high performance ‘vehicles’ we live in. On the farm, we have been mowing when the sun is shining, all this rain is growing some beautiful grass!

This is the last week to reserve your holiday turkey. We will be placing our turkey order this coming week so please place your order if you want a pasture raised turkey for your holiday celebrations – or just to eat. Indicate the size bird you want on the order. They will be available fresh the week of Thanksgiving.

This week we are featuring “*What’s for Dinner?”*. This is a box containing the main ingredients for 3 meals with recipes included.These are all Paleo appropriate, gluten free recipes. We hope to make it a little easier to eat your veggies and put good meals on the table without too much fuss. Each meal should feed 4 but all the recipes freeze very well if you want to divide into smaller portions. This category is in the meat section of the market.

The on-line market closes at 8 for orders for this Wednesday delivery. Many new items have been added under Fresh herbs, coffee, and vegetables.

Good morning,

I hope everyone is having a blessed holiday weekend and taking a moment to remember what our founding Fathers did for us to become a nation. The wisdom and foresight of these men still astounds me!

We have some new vegetables coming in so check out the market to see what *Amestoy Farm *has added this week.

I added a new recipe in the recipe section using his collards and Joyful Noise Acres Farm pork. It is delicious!

We have a few items from Diabetic Friendly Baking and they are all delicious. She does specialty baking also for those with gluten intolerance.

This Tuesday several of the farmers will be at the CrossFit Canton for their Nutrition classes at 11 and 7. This is a great time to learn more about eating well and learning about the CrossFit model. It integrates whole body workout and emphasizes nutrition to power the body.

Get your grill on!


The market closes at 8pm Monday so please get your orders in before then for delivery on Wednesday.

It is hot and muggy and hard to think about being in a hot kitchen so let’s fire up the grill. We have some great offerings this week so lets get started on the menu!

Chicken and chicken legs – what more can I say. Split a whole bird in half, marinade in olive oil, balsamic vinegar or white wine, Rosemary, salt, pepper and garlic then slow grill. The Freedom Ranger chicken is extra flavorful for this application.

Ground Beef
Four Mile Farm left some delicious ground beef in the freezer – it is going fast though- for those of you that want a traditional burger. Mix it with ground pork and make some sliders.

Lamb
Four Mile Farm also left lamb in the freezer, rib chops and loin chops, chuck steak and even a leg of lamb for the larger crowd. It is so tender and flavorful.

Vegetables
Squash of every kind, beets, onions, purple potatoes, lettuce, cabbage, kale, collards. It is all so good and available this week. My favorite fast salad is to gather all the veggies and chop them into small pieces. Pour Italian dressing over it and toss gently. Let sit about 10 minutes then serve. It is so colorful and filling and you can add any mix of vegetables you have on hand.

The farm is open on Wednesday and Saturday, deliveries are Wednesday only this week as we will celebrate the 4th with our family.

The Market is open for ordering


The market is open and several new items are available.

Deliveries and Pick up: You can pick up your order on the farm or have it delivered to one of several locations. The on farm pick up is Wednesday and Saturdays. Deliveries are Wednesdays and Thursdays. If you have a location you would like for us to add, please let us know.

We are so glad to finally have Diabetic Friendly Baking on the market. jackie makes the best breads, cakes and muffins. She uses fresh milled grains and also does gluten free baking. Please contact her to learn more about her wonderful products.

Pork has been added this week. It is not our pasture raised pork but a barn finished pork from Waldreps Farm. They supply many restaurants with their delicious chops and sausages. The barn finishing offers a milder flavor than pasture finished.

The summer vegetables are trickling in. We have several varieties of squash this week, fresh onions and purple potatoes.

I had the pleasure of visiting Amestoy Farm this week. Ben is such a humble, down to earth man. You can tell he loves the dirt and the vegetables it yeilds. He has some terrific greens, cabbage and broccoli (almost done for the season).

The market is open!


We are having some beautiful weather which means we are having some beautiful crops come in!
Look through the market offerings to plan your menu this week – and try something new if you are feeling adventurous.

Amestoy Farm is providing most of the vegetables, Ben will be updating items this evening so check back.

Joyful Noise Acres Farm has beets, herbs and of course wonderful pasture raised chicken and eggs.

Four Mile Farm has lamb and beef – all pasture raised and finished. So good and so good for you.

We have many delivery options for you including pick-up on the farm.

New items added to the market


Happy Father’s Day to all you Dad’s. What an honor and blessing to be a father…I hope your day is special!

There are several new additions to the market this week. Vegetables from Amestory Farm and herbs from Joyful NOise Acres Farm. All are grown without the use of chemicals, fertilizers or pesticides. Great food for good health!

New recipes have been added to the site. If you have a foavorite, please send it in or if you need recipe ideas, let us know – we love to cook what we grow.

The market is open for ordering so please get your orders in before Monday evening at 8:00pm.
